How it's built

A poured wall starts with excavation and a footing sized to the engineer's plan, then forms go up, rebar gets tied in a grid pattern, and concrete is poured in one continuous placement so the wall behaves as a single structural unit rather than stacked pieces. Cure time before backfilling is non-negotiable — rushing this step is how you get a wall that cracks under its first real load.

Taller poured walls, or any wall supporting a structure, typically require a stamped engineering plan and a permit before we can pull a crew onto the site. We handle that coordination as part of the project rather than leaving you to find an engineer separately.

Why it costs more — and when that's worth it

Forms, rebar, engineering, cure time, and often a permit add real cost compared to segmental block. What you get for it is a wall that can go taller, carry real structural load, and hold a tighter, more precise line — which matters when the wall is doing double duty as the edge of a driveway or the retaining structure under a pool deck.

For a straightforward 2–3 foot slope in a backyard, poured concrete is usually overkill and segmental block gets you the same result for less. We'll say so in the estimate rather than upselling a pour you don't need.

Can you match poured concrete to a finished look, or is it just gray?
